Challenges

Your hack must fit one or more of these categories in order to be eligible for prizes.

Women. A pretty broad topic, ehh? Well, 80% of our organizing team is women. So, go wild. Come talk to us if you need creative ideas 😉. Create something that is along the lines women’s safety or women empowerment. Create anything that you believe will benefit the women in this world.

Women

We all know about the needs within the healthcare sector. Create something that solves ANY one problem within the health field. Be it trying to crowdsource for medicare or a way to detect the onset of Dementia or Parkinson’s. The sky is the limit.

Healthcare

Ever looked around in your STEM classes? Ever realized the higher number of men in your classes? Ever thought of why women drop out of STEM? Well, this is the time to look into it. Explore the WHY? Make a hack to combat that problem. Talk to the people around you 🙂

Kickstart your STEMinist Career

Ahhhhhh. Are you a passionate resident of New York City? Probably yes, which is why you have something you complain about everyday. Now, take that one problem that you and your community face, and use technology to solve that problem.

Do I need a team to participate?

Absolutely not! There will be time for you to find your dream team.

Are there any travel reimbursements?

We are a new team of organizers hosting our first 24-hour Hackathon. Unfortunately at this time, we are not providing any travel reimbursements for the hackathon. Please check back later to see if there are any advancements.

What if I don’t have any coding experience?

Not a problem! We want to help you get started, and we’ll have beginner-focused workshops all day just for that. Even if you don’t have any coding background, you’ll learn and create a project by the end of the night! All you need to bring is a laptop.

What do I need to bring?

You need to bring your state ID, college ID, a laptop + charger, and anything you may need to for sleeping. We will be providing food all day Saturday and Sunday.
Note: Kosher food will be served only Saturday night, and Sunday morning. If you do eat Kosher food, you will be responsible for arranging your own meals for Saturday Breakfast and Lunch.

Will there be room for sleeping?

Absolutely yes!!!!! However, please bring your own sleeping bags and pillows.
